Small cats gone wild

Sand cat (Felis margarita)

Picture 5 of 9

Sand cats are widely distributed through the deserts of northern Africa and southwest and central Asia. They can survive temperatures up to 52°C by retreating into burrows, and the long hairs between their toes help to insulate their paws while moving over hot sand.
