Cat mummy portrait
Picture 6 of 9
Conservators at Brooklyn Museum took x-rays of their collection of 60 Ancient Egyptian mummified animals to gain information on their possible age and species. The cat mummy [pictured] had been very well preserved and is still wrapped tightly in the linen it was buried in. The x-ray showed that the cat's neck had been dislocated before the mummification process. Image: Brooklyn Museum/Flickr
