When you look up to the sky remember that at any given time there are between 9,000 and 13,000 aircraft in the air (according to the US Federal Aviation Agency, there are at least 7,000 aircraft in the air over the US at any given time). In this animation, based on data from 2008, you can see how 93,000 flights move from country to country over 24 hours.
Students from the School of Engineering at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) developed this project that aims to help improve air-traffic control. For more information visit ZHAW.
