Meet the seahorses of Sydney Harbour

Sydney has arguably the best marine life of any major city on the planet and is the easiest place in the world to come face-to-face with seahorses in the wild.

Seahorses take their name from hippocampus, a creature in Greek mythology that had the upper body of a horse and the lower body of a sea-monster ““ a scary beast that pulled Poseidon’s chariot across the seas and struck fear into the hearts of ancient mariners. People used to think that seahorses were the babies of these sea monsters, so it’s not too surprising that hippocampus is the scientific name that was given to the seahorse; it literally translates to ‘horse sea-monster’. With hundreds of these ‘sea-monsters’ living in Sydney, it’s lucky the ancient Greeks got it wrong and these babies never grow up.

Underwater Australia is unique new marine education program that aims to teach people about their own local marine life, encourage them to go out and discover it for themselves, and inspire them to help protect it. 2. I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.
