The device rotates on contact, with the bristles grooming the cow and stimulating blood circulation. The improved circulation has been linked to an increase in animal health- a study conducted by Cornell University in the US found that mastitis was 34% lower in the self-grooming cows.

Apart from the health benefits, the cows enjoy the grooming, with the brush operating at an “˜animal friendly’ speed, and happy, calm cows produce more milk. The swinging cow brush has also been linked to increased performance and productivity, with an increase in milk production of 3.5% per day from the same resources.

The swinging cow brush is aimed at improving production and animal welfare while reducing the environmental footprint of dairy farms.

Most cows enjoy a good scratch.
