Titanic: 100 years below

Titanic: 100 years below

Have you ever wondered if there was more to the sinking of the Titanic?

A century has passed since the unsinkable RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg four days into her maiden voyage and became one of the most famous maritime disasters in history. But scientists and historians are still intrigued by the events of the night of April 14 and the early hours of April 15, asking ‘how did the Titanic hit the iceberg?’ and ‘what caused her to sink so fast?’

In Titanic’s Final Moments: Missing Pieces, David Concannon and his team find two missing pieces of the hull, which may shed light on how the ship sank and how long it really took for it to break apart and reach the ocean floor. Other clues, revealed in Titanic’s Achilles Heel, suggest that the ship was doomed before she even set sail, after a team of researchers discovered a fatal design flaw in her construction.

Titanic: 100 years below includes four other documentaries — Lost Worlds: Building the Titanic, Modern Marvels: Titanic Tech, Titanic: Death of a Dream and Titanic: The Legend Lives — to complement the Titanic experience.

Interviews with survivors, reconstructions of the events and the extensive research allow viewers to travel back in time to Belfast to see how the ship was constructed and the fatal night in the Atlantic Ocean; while the footage from her discovery in 1985 and from the subsequent research reveal some of the clues behind the disaster.
