From page to stage

See how movies and plays are transformed from the page to the stage at the Powerhouse Museum this school holidays.

Coinciding with the extension of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Exhibition, the Powerhouse Museum’s school holiday program will explore how creative geniuses of theatre and film turn ideas from our favourite books onto the stage and on the big screen.

Suitable for all ages, the audience will be joined by professionals including Australia’s leading theatrical fight choreography and stage combat training company, the Sydney Stage Combat school. Performing for the first time at the Powerhouse Museum, these trained combat actors and fight directors will demonstrate how battles are designed, choreographed and fought with and without weapons for the stage and screen.

The full program includes a variety of workshops that vary from full days of hands-on activities and performances, to drop-in activities where you can draw your own mythical creature after learning from the pros. Other events include designing your own battle shield, ‘Don’t try this at home’ combat techniques, Narnia storytelling and much, much more.

When: 22 September- 5 October 2012

Where: Powerhouse Museum, 500 Harris Street Ultimo, Sydney

Cost: Varies for each event
